The NALT Uniform Format and Citation Guide (4th Edition, 2025) is the nationally approved standard for legal research writing across Nigerian universities, but a systematic review reveals twenty-two internal errors that undermine its authority. The Manual contradicts itself on abstract word counts, omits the Literature Review from the undergraduate Chapter One template, skips a section number in the doctoral conclusion template, prescribes misspelled headings, and uses a citation term it explicitly prohibits, all within the same document. Before demanding precision from Nigerian law students and researchers, the 5th Edition must first hold itself to that standard.
